About
Welcome to the MSPMesh Potato, or simply, “the potato”. This project was started October 2025 to provide reliable telemetry, messages, and nodedata in a convenient web dashboard. To ensure maximum data completeness, data is aggregated from a distributed network of 5 to 10 ingestor nodes.
FAQ:
Q: Why does my node show up as client hidden?
A: If full nodedata is not collected potatomesh will default to the client hidden role. This can also happen in error if an ingestor published incomplete nodeinfo. The correct role should be discovered within a few days if your node is reliably connected to the mesh.
Q: My nodeinfo is outdated or incorrect (role, name)
A: There are flaws in how potatomesh ingests data. If an ingestor node has outdated nodeinfo, it can be pushed to the web server, particularly if the ingestor frequently reboots. These issues usually resolve themselves after a few days.
Q: Why do some nodes have [LF] at the end?
A: There are a number of longfast to mediumfast bridges running, oftentimes nodes that have been bridged from longfast are marked with [LF]
Q: My nodedata or messages don’t appear on the potato
A: There are many potential causes for this. If your on mediumfast and your messages are acknowledged, try turning up the hop count to 7 and trying again. If this does not work is possible you have a poor connection to the greater mesh. Ask in the MSPMesh discord for more help.
Other projects:
Corescope (meshcore packet analyzer and analytics)
Meshmapper (meshcore coverage map)
Thanks to everyone who runs an ingestor, this project would not be possible without their work.
